This can be a great dish for BBQ’s or to present to your guests as Dinner Starter. Would make a stunning dish to any dinner party gathering as well.
I don’t have a great deal of ingredients but this is a simple recipe. This doesn’t mean a lack of quality in taste! It’s all in the love and care in the cooking ….
INGREDIENTS:
1 Kg. chicken wings
CHILLI MARINADE:
6 – 8 tablespoon kecap manis (sweet soya sauce)
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon powdered garlic
1 heaped teaspoon powdered ginger
1 heaped teaspoon powdered cumin
1 – 2 tablespoon runny honey
1 tablespoon brown sugar (depends on how sweet you want it)
1 – 1/2 tablespoon sambal oelek (depends on how spicy you would like)
SERVE WITH
A colourful side salad with my honey-mustard dressing, Chilli Slaw (please click here for recipe) or whatever you fancy. Make sure you drizzle some of a little of the heated marinade over the wings before serving.
Your “Starter Chopping Board”
Clean, trim off fat and any unnecessary skin, cut in half and cut off the wing ends for a tidy final appearance. More to share – unless you wish complete wings and you prefer bigger “Buffalo” style.
Blend well the ingredients in the “marinade” section of above list.
Mix well together to create a sweet and spicy marinade sauce.
Add the chicken wings and mix well. place the bowl in the fridge for about 1 – 2 hours- stirring at regular intervals to ensure the wings have absorbed the marinade sauce.
Place the chicken wings apart on a baking tray – drizzle some of the marinade over them.
Bake at a medium heat for 15 – 20 minutes. Ensure the pieces are turned over and drizzle more marinade to keep them moist. Bake until well browned and skin crispy.
Heat the rest of the marinade in a small pan. Serve your wings with a colourful side salad with honey-mustard dressing drizzled over, Chilli Slaw (please click here for recipe) or whatever you would like. Last minute, drizzle some of heated marinade over the wings for effect and to make them glisten. Hope you enjoy!
