Reason For My Blog

Starting my Blog of Recovery
I have had some good, bad experiences and a few funny times during recovery, which I wanted to share and hope might be of help. A great deal of it has been on my facebook page, however, I hadn’t shared totally everything.  To be realistic, when people asked “how are you?”, not everyone would like to hear about the pains & traumas you’ve gone through, how many pills you have taken or how many sugars you’ve had in your tea or coffee!  Just bear in mind that, although recovery won’t be easy, not everything would be negative and you should allow yourself to have fun along the way.

As Colin and I adjusted to our new routine through the months after my attack, Colin trawled the internet regarding details of what happened to me, what to expect and how he could be of help to care for me. He found a few very useful websites, but the majority were all pretty technical and full of medical jargon – to be honest, I think he looked in the wrong places! To be honest, the poor man was was not well equipped regarding computers and was doing this alone so may have “searched” in wrong places! To him, there didn’t seem any evidence of a full diary from an actual victim – he should have searched for “Survivor’s Stories”. The ones he saw were sponsored short accounts promoted through companies or medical institutes, as he was trying to look for, an explanation and how to care for me.

Anyway, I am still in recovery and will be a “work-in-Progress” for a while. Although it has been a pretty long and slow process, I had to learn to be very patient.   Colin & I coped with the everyday challenges and how to tackle each day at a time. It may surprise you that we actually laughed a lot.  That’s why I thought that this blog journal of what happened to me (Us), snippets of my recovery periods and my thoughts at the time may be of some help to someone dealing with a similar situation.  The main message from me to you is, “there is life after”.

Reason for my Blog Name: As I had always been very involved with computers and graphics for our business, the reason for the title, “Rebooting Linda”, actually came from Colin because after the many months I struggled to retrain and activate my muscles, body and frame of mind back to near normal – just like a computer, I had to “reboot” myself. The term “rebooting” seemed pretty appropriate.  If this journal could be of any help and comfort to at least one person, then I´ll be happy to have provided some relief to anyone who has to handle their own situation along the road to claim their life back. So, here I go to tell you my side ….. Good luck and I hope it will help you and your carers in a small way towards positive thinking.
