Hello there, my name is Linda. The above picture is of me with my lovely husband, Colin, who has cared for me since the first day of my attack. A strong bond between you and your carer is crucial towards your road to recovery. So I hope that you have someone special, family and friends to help you along your journey.
My Attack: I suffered a serious stroke, severe brain bleed, coma followed by waking half paralyzed since January 2019. Colin and family were told that I would not survive! Devastating news. However, I woke up and this is my journal of the high and lows of struggling to learning to walk, talk and claim my life back. You can skip to the beginning of blog when I became ill with my unexpected stroke ……… in part 2 of my blog at link: HERE
Why Me?: I used to very sporty and active but this attack was a shock to everyone. Some people may ask, “Why me?”. This condition could happen to anyone, so, “Why not you?”.
Not Easy Road to Recovery: I’ve had to overcome several challenges to try to get back to some sort of normality. I never gave up, neither should you! If the medical staff say to you “One day you will be able to do this or that“. My answer was always “When” and not “If“. Anything can be possible if you put your mind to it. I know it won’t be easy, will be frustrating but overcoming each challenge will be so very rewarding. You can even have fun along the way – it will all be up to you.
So here I go and hope you will benefit from part, if not all, of my journey of recovery and any information that I have shared:
